On Friday, February 17th, the Garden hosted the Inaugural Garden Party to celebrate the opening of the two-month ZimSculpt exhibition.
The evening began with a dramatic entrance where guests were greeted by African drummers. Following this was a stroll through the Garden where guests enjoyed the sculptures placed throughout the Asian, Florida and Brazilian gardens, just to name a few. During there evening walk, guests viewed an on-site carving demonstration by Patrick Sephani while enjoying cocktails and hors' d’oeuvres.
Once the gong rang guests traversed inside the tent anchored on the Event Plaza where they enjoyed an elegant buffet dinner catered by Tastebuds. The main purpose of the night was to celebrate ZimSculpt. The ebullient mood combined with the unique scultures created a one-of-a-kind evening for all in attendance.
The evening started to really hop once the professional ballroom dancers shimmied to the Marvin Gaye classic, “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and invited guests to join in. The crowd flooded the dance floor to the delight of event organizers and hosts, and guests danced the night away to some of their favorite rock n’ roll tunes like Chubby Checker’s “The Twist”.
The Garden would like to extend a warm thank you to the Sustaining Leadership Council (SLC) and the 2012 Garden Party Co-Chairs Barbie Hills and Connie Vandenberg for a wonderful inaugural event.
