Class Description: Have you been awed by the stunning diversity of bromeliads at Naples Botanical Garden and yearn to incorporate them into your own garden? A great way to start is to learn the basics from bromeliad expert Dennis Cathcart, who will explain bromeliad biology and preferred growing conditions. Dennis will also demonstrate how to assemble a bromeliad container garden so you can learn how to display these intriguing and hardy plants at home.

Instructor Bio: Dennis Cathcart is co-owner of Tropiflora, a large collector-oriented exotic plant nursery in Sarasota, Florida. His interest in exotic places and plants goes back 40 years. Dennis has collected, studied, photographed, written, and lectured about exotic plants all around the world. Exploring for new plant varieties is one of his favorite activities, and he has made over 100 collecting trips to more than 27 countries throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, and southeast Asia. In fact, three species of bromeliads are named for Mr. Cathcart, like Neoregelia cathcartii. Dennis worked as a judge in the 2013 Philadelphia Flower Show, the largest indoor flower show in the world, and has been invited to give the keynote address at the 2015 Australia Bromeliad Conference.
