Instructor Bio: Debbie Hughes has been a horticulturist for 10 years, working as a private gardener or at Edison and Ford Winter Estates. She is a certified Horticulture Professional through the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association and the Society of Horticultural Scientists. Debbie graduated with a degree in Biology from Augustana College and continued her education at Northwestern University, graduating with a degree in Physical Therapy. Debbie views gardening as both therapy and exercise! Her greatest enjoyment involves sharing her knowledge and love of gardening. For example, she answered garden questions on a local call-in radio program every Sunday for three years. Her "Garden Talks" focused on how to grow vegetables, herbs, citrus, and tropical fruits. Debbie would end the show with the saying, "So many plants, so little time". Debbie has taught how to have fun with creative containers at several conferences and garden clubs.
