Class Title: Nature Journaling Series

Class Description: Do you see the beauty in our natural surroundings? Those who draw and write about the natural world around them carry on a long tradition of curiosity, exploration, and investigation. In this nature journaling class, participants will be introduced to the nature journal, a combination of hand-drawn and/or painted images and text. Drawing skills are helpful but not required. The goal is to experience the process, and to broaden our connections to the natural world.
Dates: Mondays, November 4, 11, 18, 25. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to attend all four classes.
Location: Kapnick Center; White Classroom (124)
Class Size: 10 participants per class
Cost: $10 Garden Members/ $15 Non-members per class
Materials List: Materials kits may be purchased at the instructor’s cost (approx. $30) on the first day of class. Alternatively, participants may elect to bring their own materials, which should include a spiral-bound sketchbook (Aquabee Super Deluxe, 93 lb. paper, 60 sheets, 6x9" recommended), mechanical pencil (0.9mm), White Pearl eraser, Niji waterbrush (medium size), artist ink pen (Sakura Micron Pigma, size 01 (0.25mm) recommended), folding watercolor palette with paints (Daniel Smith brand tube watercolor paints recommended; Quinacridone red, hansa yellow, ultramarine blue, quinacridone gold, hooker’s green, and pthalo blue recommended), plastic bag, paper towels, and plastic garbage bag.
