Class Title: Rain Gardens and Littoral Plantings

Class Description: Are you interested in transforming your stormwater pond into an attractive native feature? Do you wish for better bird-watching around your community pond? Sign up for this small-group workshop with our Director of Conservation and Education, Chad Washburn, to learn the benefits of lakeside plants and get Chad’s personal plant species recommendations. Don’t forget to bring photos of the pond or rain garden you would like to transform to get helpful, personalized advice. Besides classroom time, this workshop will also include a tour of Naples Botanical Garden’s award-winning sustainable stormwater system, so you can see firsthand how rain gardens and lakeside plants function in a landscape.

Instructor Bio: Chad Washburn is the Director of Conservation and Education at the Naples Botanical Garden and past president of the Naples Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Hanover College in Indiana, and a Masters Degree in Applied Ecology from Indiana University. He is dedicated to transforming Florida’s urban landscapes.
