Garden Membership sign-ups have increased 163% since Grand Opening

NAPLES, FL – June 2, 2010 – What began as a family trip to Naples Botanical Garden this past Saturday, became a celebration as six year-old Isaac Dorio, his younger brother, baby sister, and parents were told they were the 5,000th Garden Member sign-up. Not only did the Garden honor the family by extending a complimentary Family Membership and a $100 gift card to the Garden Store, but the family will also hold a special place in the Garden’s history and be featured in the organization’s publication Garden Magazine.

“Our son Isaac was raving about his class field trip to the Garden,” said Amanda Dorio with husband Paul. “We knew it had to be a special place for him to talk about it like that. For us as parents and gardeners, we were thrilled to see how much there is to do and learn for all of us, but especially for the kids in the Children’s Garden.”

The Dorio Family’s membership marks an exciting achievement for the Garden since its reopening in November 9, 2009, as membership has grown by 163 percent in just over six months. Visitors continue to be amazed with the Garden and frequently take advantage of crediting their admission ticket cost for that day towards a membership after they walk through the 170 acre property.

“Our staff doesn’t do much to sell visitors on our membership since a walk around the Garden frequently does that for us,” states Brian Holley, executive director at Naples Botanical Garden. “Additionally, our memberships are reasonably priced and include such a range of benefits making them a fantastic investment for individuals and families alike.”

Membership benefits include:

  • Free admission to the Gardens and general admission Garden events
  • Free subscription to our Garden Magazine
  • Discounts on Garden programs and 10 percent off purchases at the Garden Store and participating garden centers
  • Invitations to members-only programs
  • Use of the Read Library
  • Advance registration for plant sales, programs and events
  • Free reciprocal admission to 200 gardens nationwide through the American Horticultural Society’s Reciprocal Admissions Program
