Event Description

Join us under the Kapnick Hall Terrace on Friday, December 9 from 9am – 3pm or through our virtual exhibit space below to celebrate artists in Naples Botanical Garden’s creative aging program, Virtual Nature Journaling: Botany Through Art. This 8-week workshop series facilitates students’ exploration of nature and self through nature journals.
Creative aging programs provide older adults with a renewed sense of purpose, improved wellbeing, connection with others, and joy. They do this by inspiring older adults to learn, make and share the arts in an environment that sparks creativity, fosters friendship, and builds community.
Students in this program explore how to express themselves by creating a nature journal using watercolor pencils. Nature journaling weaves together multiple disciplines like language arts, science, and history into the creative process. The classes encourage participants to practice observation in order to form deeper connections with the nature around them. You can see these observations and connections through their artwork, artist statements, and images of their nature journals on display in this exhibition.
This exhibit is included with general admission.
