Event Description
September 30, 5:30 – 7pm
All active Members are invited; RSVP is requested.
Members of the Garden are invited to an exclusive Members – Only Evening preview of La Calavera Catrina, on display in the Scott Florida Garden starting October 1. These larger-than-life skeletons from Los Angeles-based artist Ricardo Soltero serve as one of the most recognizable icons of Día de los Muertos. Born out of Mexican social satire depicting the upper classes, these sculptures will add an element of surprise during your Garden stroll, and blend with the surrounding landscape in unexpected ways.
This exhibition kicks off the Garden’s 2022 – 2023 season and supports this year’s theme, Mexico: A Celebration of Plants & Culture, which highlights one of the most biodiverse places on Earth and celebrates cultural connections to the natural world.

Members will have the Garden to themselves after hours. Dine at Fogg Café (including a cash bar), use your Member discount in the Berger Shop in the Garden (extra 10 percent!), and enjoy a special appearance by exhibition artist Ricardo Soltero.
Tickets are free for Members, and the limits are the same as your membership level: one ticket per Individual level Member, two adult tickets plus children/grandchildren for Family level, and up to four adult tickets plus children/grandchildren for all other levels.
La Calavera Catrina is organized by Denver Botanic Gardens.
