DESCRIPTION:On view in Kapnick Hall July 11 – October 25. \n\n\n\nHistorias del aire y del suelo (Stories of Air and Soil) showcases two bodies of work by artist Pseudomero. Pseudomero’s series Trópico-Sub-Trópico (Tropical-Subtropical)\, highlighting palms\, is a visual exploration of the ecological and social connections between Florida and Puerto Rico. The series featuring bromeliads\, Bromelias en serio (Seriously Bromeliads)\, is a playful yet serious call to action; by celebrating this special plant and the hidden wonder that is its micro-ecosystem\, we are reminded of the importance of preserving nature.  \n\n\n\nAbout the Artist\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPuerto Rican artist Pseudomero\, Ph.D.\, is an art activist\, historian\, and educator. His work has been exhibited throughout the southeastern United States and blends impressionism\, graffiti\, digital photography\, and expressionism. Using reclaimed and repurposed materials\, he specializes in drawing with a background in printmaking\, murals\, and mixed media. While based in Naples\, he has spent the past three years exploring the Everglades collecting photos\, audio and visual recordings\, and sketches that inform much of this exhibition. Discover how to capture your experiences in nature with your smartphone camera before wading into the Water Garden for an up-close and personal view of our waterlilies with our Curator of Special Collections. Beginners will start their own portfolio of nature photography\, get a crash course in macro photography\, and learn about our waterlily collection from Garden experts. Walk among the waterlilies during this new\, exclusive Garden experience.  \n\n\n\nPrice: $65 Members / $85 Non-Members\, includes Garden admission \n\n\n\n\nSee Dates & Register Now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program includes stepping down into our Water Garden and wading through 2 feet of water. We recommend wearing pants and closed-toe shoes that are safe to get wet. This program is not scooter or wheelchair accessible. Must bring your own smartphone to participate. Phones released within the last seven years\, with adequate storage space\, and with the latest updates installed\, are encouraged (Android S8 and later or iPhone XR and later).
