The most famous species in the Bromeliaceae family is the pineapple (Ananas comosus), which many guests are surprised to learn grows in the center of a bromeliad – not in a tree. Bromeliads are tremendously diverse, ranging from the Guzmania genus with beautiful flower spikes to succulent–like Dyckias to air plants like Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides) that live entwined in the Garden’s trees.
