Musical Swings

Set in the Kapnick Caribbean Garden January 27 – May 27, 2024, Musical Swings is a collaborative music-making art installation that invites people of all ages to participate in an unexpected creative performance. Visitors will create a musical composition of unique melodies through a responsive, interactive soundtrack. Created by Daily tous les jours.

How Musical Swings Works:

  • Each swing triggers notes from a classical instrument: piano, guitar, harp, and vibraphone. Try different seats to “play” different instruments.
  • The interactive soundtrack is inspired by the pendulum. The higher the swing, the higher the note.
  • When the swings move together in unison, they create a musical composition through which unique melodies can emerge if participants cooperate.
