ORIGINS: Patricia Cavazos

Inspired by Mexican folk art and her many visits to Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul, Patricia Cavazos uses vivid colors and forms to tell stories of the culture and history of her homeland, Mexico. ORIGINS: Patricia Cavazos is on view in Fogg Café.

With a focus on the depiction of Aztec deities, this spotlight exhibition in Fogg Café highlights Aztec culture and mythology through intricate and abstract textile artwork.

About the Artist

Patricia Cavazos was born in Monterrey, México, and migrated to the United States in 2000. She started her professional career as an architect but soon realized her passion was creating art. In 2013, she moved to Germany where she worked in costumes and scenery in the Theater Department at the International School of Düsseldorf. In 2016, Cavazos returned to the United States. Her inspiration comes from folk art, ethnic groups, and traditional crafts. She is a multimedia artist and has been exhibited internationally.
