Lecture: Tropical Forests: Beacons of Biodiversity, Holding Keys to our Health, Nutrition, Shelter and Beauty

January 31, 2017 | 10 - 11 am

Event Description

Tropical forests are biodiversity hotspots – areas of extraordinary species richness of both flora and fauna – whose plants offer us food, medicine, shelter and even beauty products. They are facing extraordinary threats from changing climate, habitat loss, and over-harvesting, and steadily increasing need for plant resources by a growing human population. Hear how the International Center for Tropical Botany is working to balance these demands and work toward a sustainable future

  • Tuesday, January 31
  • 10 – 11 am, Kapnick Hall in Naples Botanical Garden
  • $15 Members / $20 Non-Members

Dr. Christopher Baraloto, Director, International Center for Tropical Botany, a partnership of Florida International University and the National Tropical Botanical Garden at The Kampong.
