The Garden is excited to welcome an exhibit featuring Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging that emphasizes form and balance.
Hosted by Naples Ikebana International #160, the local chapter of Ikebana supporters, experts, and enthusiasts, the exhibit is entitled “Artfully Arranged” and is held at Naples Botanical Garden on February 17 and 18, 2017.
Entry to the show is included with general Garden admission and will be held in Kapnick Hall. The exhibit is comprised of more than 70 floral arrangements using live materials, demonstrations of various styles of arranging Ikebana, and a Ginza where Ikebana materials may be purchased.
The Jane and Chuck Berger Shop in the Garden will be hosting world-renowned artist Minh Häusler for a special book signing opportunity from 11 am – 12 pm and 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm on both dates of the Show. Copies of her book will be available for purchase in the Shop.
Minh Häusler is a master of the modern Sogetsu School of Ikebana and the author of The Fusion of Flora and Art. The artist and photographer lives in Zurich, Switzerland and Naples, Florida.
Her first book, The Fusion of Flora and Art reproduces in sumptuous full-color more than two hundred photographs. Carefully composed by the artist herself, the photographs are stunningly beautiful, the line and color of the flowers redolent with meaning against simple black or white settings. Häusler’s lavish photographs – together with texts that provide insight into the artist’s process – make this book that will inspire anyone with an appreciation of this beautiful and timeless art.
