Cancelled: What Your Fossils Can Tell You: The Cultural Modification of Vertebrates with Dr. Robert Sinibaldi

April 21, 2018 | 2 - 3 pm
FGCU Kapnick Center Buehler Auditorium at Naples Botanical Garden

Event Description

Thank you for your interest in Lifelong Learning. This class has been cancelled due to low enrollment.

Questions? Call us at 239.634.7275 or email us at LLL@naplesgarden.org.

Bumps, grooves, markings, and other anomalies on fossil bones and teeth can tell a story of how early Native Americans modified these materials to use in daily living. In this program, Dr. Robert Sinibaldi will explain the meanings of these markings and ways that both novice and experienced fossil collectors can interpret their findings. A signing of his most recent book What Your Fossils Can Tell You: Vertebrate Morphology, Pathology, and Cultural Modification will follow the program.

  • Saturday, April 21
  • 2-3pm, FGCU Kapnick Center Buehler Auditorium at Naples Botanical Garden
  • $15 Members / $20 Non-Members

Robert Sinibaldi, Ph.D., is a former past president of the Tampa Bay Fossil Club. In 2012, the Florida Paleontological Society presented him with the Howard Converse Award for his service to paleontology. He is also the author of Fossil Diving: In Florida’s Waters or Any Other Waters Containing Prehistoric Treasures and The Handbook of Paleontological Terms.

Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
