As our second year of Project Stay Planted closes, let’s take a moment to review the plants, lichen, and fungi participants found. We asked users to go outside and learn about the plants growing in their communities, not only to add to iNaturalist’s database for scientific use, but also to learn about the species we walk by every day.
Over 20 observers from Texas, Missouri, Michigan, North Carolina, and of course, Florida logged 600-plus observations! Eighty-seven users worked to identify the almost 300 species our participants recorded.
Below are the most frequently observed species during Project Stay Planted 2021. These plants are growing in abundance and were spotted by multiple users across the landscape.
