    The spiky seed pods of Bixa orellana—also known as achiote or annatto—burst open to reveal vibrant red-orange arils. These striking seeds have been used for centuries across Central and South America as a natural dye in culinary, cosmetic, and artistic traditions.

    Though its delicate pale-pink blooms are fleeting, it’s those bold seed pods that truly steal the show—still used today to color everything from cheese to lipstick! 💄
